Snow Thrower FAQ's

  • My snow thrower will not start

    Check that the battery is properly charged or the extension cord is securely plugged into the unit.

    Ensure you are using the correct starting order. Press and hold in the starter button, while still pressing the button pull up on the handle or pull the trigger. Once started release the button.

    If you have an electric or battery powered snow shovel, make sure you have completed the electrical connection between the handle and the motor housing. Click here
  • What size extension cord should i use?

    Check the table in the owner's manual. If in doubt use a 12 gauge extension cord.
  • Can i use while still snowing?

    No problem.
  • Can i use the snow thrower on gravel?

    Not recommended. The gravel can damage the auger and void the warranty.
  • Motor is running and auger is not rotating

    First, inspect for any material that is preventing the auger from rotating. Before you start your inspection remove the battery or unplug the snow thrower Check the belts to make sure they are not worn or broken.   • Snow is not being thrown very far

    Wet heavy snow will travel less distance than lighter show. Also make sure to blow the snow in the direction of the wind.
  • Can the snow thrower be used to remove ice

    No. Ice could damage the auger avoid ice or very compacted snow usually at the end of the driveway after a plow has been through.
  • After use what is the proper storage method

    Make sure the unit is as dry as possible. Charge the battery after you have taken it inside an allowed to get to room temperature. Store battery where temperatures do not drop below what is outlined in the owners manual.
  • Can these be used on roofs?

    Not recommended.
  • Will it damage a wood or composite deck?

    You can use on a wood or composite deck, but do not allow it to rotate in one spot for more than a few seconds.
  • What is the best way to operate a battery/electric snow thrower?

    For both the battery and corded versions do not push with extreme force into a pile of snow, allow the auger to pull the unit through the snow with minimum force being applied by the operator.

    For corded models work from the closest point to the outlet to the farthest point to avoid the extension cord. Check your owner's manual for suggested patterns.
  • My crank handle does not move the chute

    Your internal gears maybe frozen. If you have used the snow thrower for an extended period the extreme cold you may need to allow it to warm up till the crank can more the gears.

    Do not force the crank until you have allowed the gears to unfreeze as this may cause a gear failure. Note the chute does not move a full 180 degree in movement.
  • Are extra batteries and chargers available?

    Yes, search by the model number of your snow thrower.
